Conducting Outcome Based Assessment

Background To The Programme 

SAQA USD 115753, NQF level 5, 15 credits

Duration: 3 Days

This generic assessor programme is for those who assess people for their achievement of learning outcomes in terms of specified criteria using pre-designed assessment instruments. The outcomes and criteria may be defined in a range of documents including but not limited to unit standards, exit level outcomes, assessment standards, curriculum statements and qualifications. This programme equips learners with the necessary knowledge and skill to make effective judgements on a person’s competency by means of assessments. The learner will be able to conduct assessments within their fields of expertise, as well as, carry out assessments in a fair, valid, reliable and practicable manner that is free of all bias and discrimination

Competency Outcomes

By the end of the course, delegates should be able to:

  • Demonstrate understanding of outcomes-based assessment.
  • Prepare assessments –. Ensuring that preparation of assessment resources, logistics, documentation and environment meets the requirements of the assessment at hand and ensures fairness and safety of assessment
  • Conduct assessments. Ensuring that assessment practices are in line with quality assurance requirements, recognised codes of practice and learning-site or work-site standard operating procedures where applicable
  • Provide feedback on assessments – Ensuring that feedback is given to relevant parties in accordance with confidentiality requirements, in an appropriate sequence and within agreed timeframes
  • Review assessments – Ability to identify and deal with Weaknesses in the assessment design and process that could have compromised the fairness of assessment and dealt with them according to the organisation’s assessment policy.
